How to Restrict Content to Open in WorkFile Only

How to successfully restrict Symantec Work Mail to open attachments in Work File only.

Environmental Requirements:

  • Symantec Mobility Licensing: MAM or Suite
  • Symantec Work File Licensing: Basic (for iOS Only) or Enhanced/Advanced (Android and iOS)
  • Sealed version of Symantec Work Mail - Connected to WorkSpace

  • ​Symantec Work File - connected to WorkSpace
  • Work Hub 5.4 - hosting WorkSpace
  • App Policy on Symantec Work Mail - Usage Restrictions should state "Document sharing between apps: Allow app to share data only with other apps in their WorkSpace" (See attached image)

Steps for success:

  1. Install Mobility Work Hub on the iOS/Android Device > Authenticate/Enroll
  2. Install Work Mail > Open Work Mail > Join to WorkSpace > Authenticate into EAS environment (allow time for email download)
  3. Install Work File > Open Work File > Join to WorkSpace > Authenticate into Work File environment
  4. Open Work Mail > Find an email with the Attachment > download the attachment > This action should automatically open WorkFile, as no other file viewer is part of the WorkSpace.

Following these steps should allow no other app on the device to view attachments that are part of the Work Mail agent.
